It's been a long time since I updated my website and blog but it's something I'll be doing more regularly from now on.
To say that 2020 has been an odd year is putting it mildly. I think most people would say it's been the worst year they can remember but for me, personally, it's been quite a good year in a way.
I first visited the Scottish Highlands in 2011 and fell in love with it - the scenery, the wildlife, the people all stole my heart. I returned many times over the years, often on birdwatching holidays with Heatherlea and realised that if I had to pick anywhere in the world to live it would be the highlands.
For many years it has been my dream to be a wildlife/birdwatching guide but I never thought I would be able to make that dream a reality. This year I not only moved to live in Grantown-on-Spey in the Highlands but also started a new job as a full-time guide for Heatherlea! My plans were delayed by Covid-19 but luckily not derailed - I was due to move house on 27th March and start for Heatherlea in April, I actually moved at the end of May and started my new job in September.
In a year of such uncertainty, when everyday life has been so horribly disrupted, I consider myself unbelievably fortunate to have realised my dreams.
